Why it matters

The buyer isn't the athlete — it's you

Athletic directors, coaches, and event organizers carry the responsibility when something goes wrong. Contract coverage is how you take that risk off the table.

Reduce your liability

An on-site certified professional managing injuries means your program isn't relying on a coach or parent to make medical calls. That's real risk taken off your plate.

Emergency-ready, every event

Concussion recognition, acute-injury management, and a clear emergency action plan — handled by someone trained for the moment it actually matters.

Confident parents & athletes

Families notice when a program takes safety seriously. Visible, credentialed medical coverage builds trust in your organization and keeps athletes playing.

No full-time overhead

Get certified coverage exactly when you need it — a single game, a tournament weekend, or a full season — without carrying a staff athletic trainer year-round.

Coverage built around your athletes

Every service is delivered within the South Dakota athletic training scope of practice, in coordination with a physician where care requires it.

Game & Practice Coverage

On-site athletic trainer for your scheduled games and practices — injury recognition, immediate care, and sideline decision-making by a licensed professional.

Tournament & Event Coverage

Single-day or weekend coverage for tournaments, meets, and races. One point of contact handling care, communication, and documentation across the event.

Injury Evaluation & Triage

On-field assessment of musculoskeletal and sport-related injuries, with clear guidance on whether an athlete continues, sits, or is referred on for further care.

Taping, Bracing & Prevention

Pre-activity taping and bracing plus practical injury-prevention guidance that helps reduce risk before athletes ever step on the field.

Return-to-Play Coordination

Structured return-to-activity progression in coordination with the athlete's physician, so athletes come back when they're genuinely ready — not before.

Emergency Action Planning

Review or build of your venue's emergency action plan, so coaches and staff know exactly what happens in the moments that matter most.

Athletic trainers coordinate with EMS and physicians — they don't replace them. Care is provided in line with South Dakota's practice act and physician oversight where required.

Coverage for the organizations that keep Brookings playing

From SouthBrook softball weekends to club volleyball tournaments and Friday-night games, organizations across eastern South Dakota need dependable medical coverage without carrying a full-time athletic trainer on staff. That's where contract coverage fits.

About

Hi, I'm Savannah.

I'm a BOC-certified athletic trainer based in Brookings, South Dakota, working independently with the clubs, teams, and event organizers who need trusted medical coverage on their sidelines.

Athletic trainers are licensed healthcare professionals — not personal trainers. My job is to reduce injury risk, manage what happens when an athlete goes down, and coordinate a safe return to play. For your organization, that means fewer liabilities, calmer parents, and a credentialed professional handling the medical side so your coaches can coach.

Reliable, communicative, and properly insured — I make hiring coverage simple, with clean documentation and a certificate of insurance available on request.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What organizations across Brookings and eastern South Dakota ask before booking coverage.

What is a certified athletic trainer (ATC)?

A BOC-certified athletic trainer (ATC) is a licensed allied-health professional who specializes in preventing, recognizing, and managing sport-related injuries. On-site, that means injury recognition, immediate care, sideline decision-making, and return-to-play coordination — all within the South Dakota athletic training scope of practice and in coordination with a physician where care requires it.

What areas does Savvy Athletic serve?

Savvy Athletic provides on-site coverage across Brookings and eastern South Dakota — club and travel teams, rec and youth leagues, tournaments, races, camps, and clinics.

What types of events can you cover?

Single games and practices, single-day or weekend tournaments, meets, and races, plus recurring season-long coverage for clubs and organizations. One certified point of contact handles care, communication, and documentation across the event.

How much does athletic training coverage cost?

Coverage is offered at hourly, day-rate, and season pricing built around your schedule — a Single Event package, a Tournament/Weekend package, and a Seasonal package for clubs and organizations. Reach out through the contact form with your sport, level, dates, and location, and you'll get a quote that fits your event.

Why hire a contract athletic trainer instead of staff?

Contract coverage gives you a certified professional exactly when you need one — a single game, a tournament weekend, or a full season — without carrying a full-time athletic trainer on staff year-round. It takes medical decision-making off coaches and parents, reduces your program's liability, and keeps you emergency-ready for every event.

Do athletic trainers replace EMS or a physician?

No. Athletic trainers coordinate with EMS and physicians — they don't replace them. Care is provided in line with South Dakota's practice act and physician oversight where required, including structured return-to-play progression in coordination with the athlete's physician.
